Ive had an HP Laptop Pavilion g6 for around a year, operating on Windows 8.1 . I'm repreatedly (and increasingly) losing wifi connection to router - all other devices using the same wifi connection (desktop pc, nexus phone, samsung phone) all retain connection and internet access but the Pavilion keeps dropping off.
Pressthe Windows key + X, and open the Device Manager. Click on Network Adapter to expand the list of network devices under it. Right-click on the Wireless network driver and select Properties. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option.
ControlPanel - Network - write down make and model of Wifi - double click. on it - driver's tab - write down version - click Update Driver (may not do. anything as MS is far behind certifying drivers). Then Right Click on Wifi. Device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - this will refresh the driver stack.
